International Case Study | Everton’s New stadium, Liverpool, UK | winter semester 2022/23
The main objective of this International Case Study Project was to critically examine the conception and construction of Everton's new stadium in the current volatile times.
Everton F.C. is one of the most traditional football clubs of the English premier league. The Goodison Park has been a home for Everton for more than 125 years. After a decade long search, the site for the Stadium is finalised at Bramley Moore Dock. The new stadium is under construction and is due to open form the start of the 2024–25 season.
A holistic analysis was done by seven groups of students each focusing on a specific aspect. The focus areas were Organisation, BIM, Construction Management, Sustainability, Energy, Transport and Marketing. During the Case Study tasks, students implemented the knowledge gained from the study course and designed alternate and improved scenarios for the project, particularly in relation to the impact of the future development of the city of Liverpool.
This semester-long project concluded with a construction site visit in Liverpool. The Case Study experience was highly beneficial as students witnessed the latest technology integration, and gained an insight into project management of such a complex large-scale project.
The project was supervised by Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Christine Kappei (Faculty of Architecture and Design), Prof. Dr. Markus Schmidt (Programme Director of Infrastructure Management) and Prof. Jürgen Volm (Programme Director of Master International Project Management). Our collaboration partner Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool Business School, hosted the group works.
