Master Thesis | Laura Carina Gerstlauer | winter semester 2018/19
Soundwalk as a participatory method in urban planning.
In this master thesis, the soundwalk as a participatory method in urban public space design was the focus of attention. For the work 'Stadtklänge', Mrs Gerstlauer from the master's degree programme in urban planning worked together with the acoustics research group of the HFT Stuttgart. Using the example of the Bismarckplatz in Stuttgart, a concept for the acoustic design of the square was developed on the basis of a sound space analysis. Several soundwalks served as a basis for the data collection and as a participatory method to involve the residents and public users of the square. In November 2019 the work was presented in a SWR science report on noise reduction.
