Design with a focus on Advanced Urban Planning | Nursen Karaman | 2nd Semester | winter semester 2020/21
In this project named Wohnmaschine (Living Machine), a place of learning, education, research and mutual exchange is to be created at the train station in Geislingen an der Steige. The idea behind the surreal-looking design is to assemble living machines from recycled materials, including those from industry. Be it old metal parts from trains or metal waste from production. The focus is on a collage of recycled components.
The living machines in combination with the planned green tongue give Geislingen an experimental possibility. They are animated during the day as well as at night and encourage the citizens to actively participate in the shaping of their city. Geislingen, with its history strongly influenced by the metal construction industry, is revived on an architectural level with the aim of making the place more attractive for students, travellers and artists.
The work was supervised by Prof. Harald Roser, Prof. Gunther Laux and Prof. Horst Sondermann.
