Furniture design | 3rd semester | WiSe23-24 | The designs were supervised by Prof. Karsten Weigel and Dipl.Ing.(FH) Jürgen Aldinger
Store, stow away, keep, file, hang up, organize, ...
In the winter semester 2023/24, the 3rd semester team of 2 designed a small piece of furniture that should not exceed the dimensions 500 x 500 x 500 mm and that is a help for the user or solves a problem. The design should be producible in small series and be made primarily from wood or wood-based materials, supplemented by other (sustainable) materials.
A selection of the furniture was exhibited at the Blickfang trade fair in Stuttgart's Liederhalle.
"Tria" by Maleen Blank and Hanna Hagenlocher
The height-adjustable side table impresses with its simple elegance and special design language. Using magnetic elements, Tria can be assembled and extended into a wide variety of shapes and variations. This creates exciting and individual small pieces of furniture. Tria impresses with its changeable and endless color combinations and adapts to people and surroundings. The powder-coated sheet steel ensures scratch-resistant and robust surfaces and lends the piece of furniture elegance and value.
"FAO FIVE" by Samori Sarcone and Luisa Triebel
The FAO Five embodies the symbiosis of functionality and aesthetics, a sophisticated side table that impresses with its innovative design. Conceived as an ensemble of two harmoniously combined elements, it redefines the boundaries of contemporary interior design.
At the center of this unique arrangement is the round main table in a graceful light blue. Its perfectly shaped silhouette rests elegantly on a solid foundation, formed by a more compact, rectangular companion. This smaller but indispensable corner pillar, made of robust steel, gives the ensemble its stability and ensures stability.
The main round table, made of wood and wood-based materials, is defined not only by its aesthetic appeal, but also by its practical sophistication. The integration of precision-milled magnets on its underside provides unparalleled flexibility, allowing it to be positioned freely and effortlessly on the small square table - proof of the sophisticated engineering that underpins this masterpiece.
