Symposium: What we need to know about the smart city

One-day interactive format at the Faculty of Architecture and Design

At the symposium "What we need to know about the Smart City", students work together with invited experts to develop fields of competence for future Smart City professionals.

Smart City solutions combine new technologies with traditional infrastructure to make cities and regions more sustainable and liveable. The subject is new and is represented as a subfield in a wide range of disciplines. Smart city solutions are always developed collaboratively and by multi-disciplinary teams. At the International Master Programme Smart City Solutions, students test methods and discuss theories from architecture, urban planning, economics and finance, (geo)data management, urban ecology, infrastructure management and administrative sciences. They develop competences to coordinate interests and realise potentials in interface positions.

What to expect
The symposium will give you the opportunity for a direct exchange with experts. If you have been studying from home for several semesters during the pandemic, this will be a precious experience.

During two preparatory meetings, you will develop workshop formats with the other student participants and prepare a moderation for the day. In this way, you will set your own goals for the workshop and prepare questions that concern you. Prep-meetings are moderated by Prof. Iris Belle and Gabriel Villegas de la Ossa.
