New professorial appointments for the winter semester 2024/25

The Faculty of Architecture and Design welcomes the professors Sophie Reiner and Margit Sichrovsky and the professorial replacements Florian Bengert and Hannes Raoul Endriß for the winter semester

Prof. Sophie Reiner | Subject: Building Construction and Design

Sophie Reiner, born in 1988, founded studioeuropa in 2014 with her partners Kerstin Schön, Felix Reiner and Julian Chiellino after studying architecture at TU Munich and ETSA Barcelona. studioeuropa is based in Munich and Vienna. Her commitment to architecture has been recognised with several awards, including the BDA Architecture Prize "max40" 2021 and the Bauwelt Prize 2017 for "Das erste Haus". Parallel to her work as an architect, Sophie Reiner was a research assistant at the Chair of Building Construction and Design at the Technical University of Munich from 2016 to 2022. From 2022 to 2023, she held a deputy professorship for Fundamentals of Design and Building Construction at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences before being appointed to the HFT Stuttgart for the winter semester 2024/25. Her work in her own architectural practice and in teaching reflects her conviction of a contemporary architectural language and teaching, which should convey optimism and energy and focus on the importance of cooperation and open-mindedness for each other and for new things in the architecture industry. Prof. Sophie Reiner was appointed professor at the HFT Stuttgart on September 1, 2024.

Professor Florian Bengert
Subject: Design in the context of social and resource-conscious design

Florian Bengert is an architect and, together with Lukas Bessai and Marcel Schaaf, heads the architecture firm CURIOUS ABOUT, founded in 2020 and based in Karlsruhe. Their shared interest is in both speculative theories and experimental practice, with the aim of questioning how the built environment can be designed in a future-optimistic way for a society in transition.

Florian Bengert studied architecture at KIT Karlsruhe, graduating with distinction in 2017 and receiving the Friedrich Weinbrenner Prize for his thesis. During and after his studies, he worked for various offices, including Buchner Bründler in Basel, the editorial office of ARCH+ and FAR frohn&rojas in Berlin. In summer 2018, he was a project assistant for the Datatopia Summer School at the Floating University in Berlin. From 2018 to 2020 he worked at bogevischs buero in Munich. From 2020 to 2022 he taught as a research assistant at Raum und Entwerfen (Prof. Marc Frohn) at KIT Karlsruhe. Since 2019 he has held various teaching positions at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the HFT Stuttgart and in 2023 he led a design studio as part of the International Master of Interior-Architectural Design.

Prof. Margit Sichrovsky
Subject: Climate-friendly and resource-efficient architecture and design

Margit Sichrovsky studied architecture at the Bauhaus University Weimar and at the TU Berlin. After successfully completing her Master's degree, she worked for several years as a project architect and co-project manager in planning offices. Together with Kim Le Roux, she founded LXSY in Berlin in 2015. The architects work in the field of circular planning and building and are actively committed to the transformation towards a climate-friendly construction industry. Their projects have won the German Design Award 2017, the Iconic Award 2019, 3rd prize in the polis Award 2023 and the FRAME AWARD 2023, among others, and have been nominated for the DAM PRIZE 2024. In 2021 Margit Sichrovsky was appointed as a member of the BDA Berlin. Since 2022, she has been part of the "Sustainable Planning and Building" working group of the Berlin Chamber of Architects. With teaching activities, workshops, user participation and lectures, she drives the discourse on shaping a sustainable future. In addition to architectural topics related to building culture, social aspects are always in the foreground for her. Prof. Margit Sichrovsky was appointed professor at HFT Stuttgart on September 1, 2024.

Portrait Professurvertretung Hannes Raoul Endriß

Substitute Professor Hannes Raoul Endriß | Subject: International Project Management

Dr. Hannes Raoul Endriß has headed the global and newly founded Business Line Smart Sustainable Buildings at TÜV SÜD since October 2021, which comprises over 250 employees at more than 15 locations. This business line and the associated legal units place great emphasis on consulting, but also take TIC (Testing, Inspection and Certification) into account. ESG and digital twin related portfolio elements, including simulations and drone operations, are managed globally to leverage synergies and develop and implement strategies.

Hannes Endriß has worked in construction engineering and project management on various national and international projects and has also worked as a product owner for BIM and AR software. Most recently, he acted as CTO in a start-up company and deployed BIM-enabled software on all continents. He began his career by training as a draughtsman and went on to gain a Master of Engineering, a Master of Business Administration and a Doctor of Business Administration from Liverpool John Moores University.
