Once again this winter semester, the Faculty of Architecture and Design will be holding specialist lectures as part of the Point 7 series. Renowned designers from the fields of architecture, interior design and urban planning have been speaking in the series since 2004.
The lecturers talk about their personal approaches, strategies and experiences in project implementation. Their professional vita and individual stance on architectural and building culture issues are also considered. This way they provide insights into their respective work and the person behind it.
We are looking forward to Jeannette Kuo, Anna Heringer and Simona Malvezzi.
Jeannette Kuo | Karamuk Kuo Architects, Zürich (CH)

The internationally active Zurich-based architecture office KARAMUK KUO was founded in 2010 by Jeannette Kuo and Ünal Karamuk. The office's work focuses on the intersection of spatial concepts and constructive technologies and understands architecture as a social and material discipline. From educational and residential buildings to cultural buildings, the office seeks to negotiate each construction task between site and use through specific and sustainable responses. In addition to the office, the partners also devote themselves to research and academic activity. Jeannette Kuo has been Assistant Professor in Practice at Harvard University since 2016. Her research on work environments are published in "A-Typical Plan" (2013) and "Space of Production" (2015).
Anna Heringer | Studio Anna Heringer, Laufen
»Architecture is a tool to improve lifes« on 25 November 2021
"The vision behind, and motivation for my work is to explore and use architecture as a medium to strengthen cultural and individual confidence, to support local economies and to foster the ecological balance. For me, sustainability is a synonym for beauty: a building that is harmonious in its design, structure, technique and use of materials, as well as with the location, the environment, the user, the socio-cultural context. This, for me, is what defines its sustainable and aesthetic value", says Anna Heringer about her lecture.
Anna Heringer became internationally known with the construction of the METI School in Rudrapur (Bangladesh), which she designed as her diploma thesis at the Kunstuniversität Linz. Since then, Heringer has continued to develop her award-winning architectural approach, which is based on local building materials and labour, through buildings mainly in Asia, Africa and through teaching architecture at Harvard University, ETH Zurich and TU Munich, among others. Her work has been exhibited in many museums worldwide, such as MoMA New York and the Cité de l'architecture in Paris. She has also received numerous awards for her work, including the Aga Khan Award for Architecture.
Simona Malvezzi | Kuehn Malvezzi, Berlin
»Unsichtbare Architektur« (»Invisible architecture«) on 02 December 2021
"We are not interested in creating a kind of style, but rather in finding a very specific solution for each situation. This means that we don't just react to contexts, but actually work on them, create them. You could also call it "construction of the context", says Simona Malvezzi about her lecture.
Together with Wilfried and Johannes Kuehn, Simona Malvezzi founded the office Kuehn Malvezzi in Berlin in 2001. Public spaces, museums and exhibitions are the focus of the office, which has realised the architecture for Documenta 11 in Kassel, the Friedrich Christian Flick Collection in the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin and the Julia Stoschek Collection in Düsseldorf, among others. Kuehn Malvezzi is also known for the extension of the Modern Gallery of the Saarland Museum in Saarbrücken and the conversion of the Prinzessinnenpalais on Berlin's Unter den Linden boulevard.
