The places of study at Hochschule für Technik Stuttgart are in great demand! 9000 applications have been registered through the HFT online-applicant portal for the upcoming wintersemester.
Due to the pandemic, the application deadline for the Bachelor's study courses was postponed by almost five weeks to August 20 throughout Germany this year. The number of applicants thus exceeds the previous year's mark by 50 percent. The HFT Stuttgart has 818 study places to offer, 626 of which are in Bachelor's courses and 192 in Master's courses.
Top performers in business psychology, business administration and architecture
Almost all courses of study have a significantly increased number of applicants. Particularly in demand are the Bachelor's study courses in Business Psychology with 1599 applications for 36 places, Business Administration with 1410 applications for 50 places and Architecture with 1288 applications. For architecture, this means an increase of 230 percent - with a constant number of 80 places available. A similar picture emerges for the Master of Architecture, where 236 interested students applied for 30 places. The subject of Business Psychology also leads the ranking list for Master's applications with 392 applications for 24 places.
Information via social media and website
Prospective students had hardly any opportunity this year to obtain information directly via study info fairs or study info days at universities; counselling interviews could usually only be conducted online. As a replacement, the HFT has placed even greater emphasis this year than in previous years on social networks. Here, detailed information was provided on the content of the study programmes and career prospects. In addition, the new website of the HFT Stuttgart, which has been online since March, offers a wide range of opportunities to present and communicate in a comprehensible manner, especially those study contents that require explanation.
In the next few days, the allocation of Bachelor's study places will be coordinated by hochschulstart.de. Applicants will then find all the information on the procedure and the decisions on the online portal of the university. For those applicants who receive admission and accept the study place, the semester will start on 5th October with a preparation week before the regular lectures for all students begin on 12th October.
Semester start and preparation week - how much attendance is possible?
The University of Applied Sciences management is planning in several directions. However, the tenor is clear: if possible, the Rectorate and the Deans of Studies would like to personally welcome the first semester students in smaller groups. The first-year students will go through the preparatory week with project tasks, getting to know the important contact persons and orientation in the programme in a mixture of online and face-to-face events, so that the best possible start to their studies is guaranteed.
