With the DAAD Prize the German Academic Exchange Service would like to honour international students who have distinguished themselves through special academic achievements and social or intercultural commitment. The €1,000 prize is awarded annually by the HFT Stuttgart to an outstanding student.
In this special year, Manh Hoan Dao from Vietnam can be happy about the prize money. Due to the corona pandemic, no official award ceremony is possible, but Mr. Dao is very happy. He prevailed over the competition in the prize winners' meeting on 11.08.2020. The decisive factor was above all his outstanding academic achievements.
In the summer semester 2020, Mr. Dao completed his bachelor's thesis in architecture with "very good" and is one of the best students of his year. It is not only the constancy of his very good performance in design that is striking, but also the fact that he tries out new approaches in his committed projects and invests far above-average amounts of work to implement the demanding approaches. With his bachelor's thesis, the design of a large school centre, he has purposefully sought a theme that looks for new social spaces (here: classrooms) for the future and tries to improve the 'social model school' and find a new type of space for it. The content-related approach behind his work was extremely remarkable.
Manh Hao Dao received various awards for his achievements during his studies. In addition, he has already gained intensive practical experience with renowned architects through internships and working student activities to test and further refine his skills.
The HFT Stuttgart wishes Mr. Dao, who will complete his bachelor's degree in the summer semester 2020, every success in his future career.
