Architecture and Design
The exhibition at the HFT Stuttgart shows photographs created by students of the Faculty of Architecture and Design as part of the elective subject "Transformation".
As every three years, the photography exhibition "Fotosommer Stuttgart" ("Photo Summer Stuttgart") will be taking place in July 2024. This year's motto is "Transformation".
"...Transformation is change. Something becomes something else. What do we need to change in politics, business and culture to meet the challenges of the new era? How do we transform the way we treat the earth, nature and the consequences of globalization? If we don't change, our world will slip away from us. Contemporary photography as a reflective art genre also poses this question: what contribution can photographers make to the topic of transformation, be it with the content of a project or by questioning typical photographic approaches that also represent transformation?..."

What contribution can built architecture and we architects make to this topic?
"The students explored these questions using the medium of photography. Kai Hertfelder introduced us to the technique of photography as a photographing architect, and the renowned photographer Toby Binder accompanied us in an advisory capacity along the way."

The aim of the seminar was the photographic realisation of the theme "Transformation".
The results will be exhibited in the foyer of Building 8 during the "Fotosommer Stuttgart". The conception and organisation of the exhibition was part of the seminar.
